Thanksgiving Day Tips!

With Thanksgiving being this week, many of us are preparing a large meal for family and friends. While we are preparing for all the festivities, we often let our guards down, and accidents tend to happen. Do not let this be you this season!
Here are some tips on cooking your turkey safely and efficiently:
- Safely Thaw Your Turkey- Never thaw your turkey by leaving it on the counter, this can cause bacteria to quickly grow. Keep turkey in its packaging while it is thawing. It takes about 24 hours per 5 pounds of turkey for it to fully thaw out, so plan ahead!
- Make sure turkey is fully thawed and dry- Water in or on the turkey can cause an explosion when it makes contact with the oil.
- Do not deep fry on decks, under patios, in garages or any other enclosed space.
- Keep children and pets away from frying area.
- Keep a fire extinguisher near, just in case.
