6 Ways to Avoid a Winter Water Loss, by SERVPRO & The Weather Channel

Throughout the winter season, there are several preventative measures you can take against your home having a water loss. Typically, winter water losses are caused by frozen pipes. There are several ways you can prepare ahead of time against this happening:
Putting your garden hose away for the winter and putting on a faucet cover
Add insulation in the attic
Attach insulated pipe sleeves in your exterior pipes or crawlspace
Here are a few more measures you can take once the temperature is below freezing:
Open the kitchen and bathroom cabinet to help the warm air circulate around your plumbing
Drip your faucets (it doesn’t have to be much!)
Use a fan in the doorway to move air into the colder rooms in the home
