Snowfall Flooding
1/2/2020 (Permalink)
So far, winter 2019-2020 has been mild, and we have not experienced much snow. While this may be the case, we are still not in the clear. While we may not have any snow in the forecast, that could change at any moment. Before we get snow, we would like to warn everyone about the risk of snow potentially turning into a water loss.
Many people may not think about this happening, but we often see it in our line of work. After a large snowstorm hits, it takes a few days for it to melt. During this time, it can come into your home or business by any small cracks in your foundation. This also happens quite a bit when the ground is still frozen, since it cannot absorb any of the water that needs to be drained.
Odor and mold are also side effects of water losses. Being diligent and making sure that your home is well protected this winter season is the best way to avoid seeing green trucks at your home!
But remember, the longer a loss sits, the worse the damage gets.
It is important to call in backup as soon as you know it is more than you can handle.
